£14.00 per hour + Paid travel time + Mileage paid
When travel time is included, many carers achieve an effective rate of £15–£17+ per hour of care delivered.
Guaranteed minimum hours per week, starting from 20 per week, with the opportunity to build up to 35 hours based on availability and performance.
About the role
We are seeking experienced, reliable carers to support privately funded clients in their own homes across Whitstable, Herne Bay, Canterbury and surrounding areas.
Our care is relationship-led, unhurried and focused on dignity. We do not deliver Local Authority or NHS contract work, which allows our carers to spend proper time with clients and provide consistent, high-quality support.
This role is best suited to carers who are confident working independently, communicate clearly, and are looking for stable, long-term work with regular clients.
Availability (essential)
This role requires consistent and reliable availability across both daytime and evenings.
You must be able to commit to:
- Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 2:00pm AND 5:00pm – 7:00pm
- Alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday)
This is not suitable for applicants with limited or school-hours-only availability.
Applicants who cannot meet this availability will not be considered.
Travel and location (important)
This is a domiciliary care role involving travel between clients.
- You will be working across Whitstable and Canterbury
- You must be comfortable travelling between visits throughout the day
- Because we pay both mileage and travel time, we prioritise applicants who are based locally to this area
What you’ll be doing
- Providing companionship, personal care and mobility support in clients’ homes
- Supporting daily living tasks, including personal hygiene, dressing and meal preparation
- Following individual care plans and noticing meaningful changes in well-being
- Communicating clearly and professionally with clients, families and healthcare professionals
- Delivering care that respects privacy, dignity, routine and independence
This is calm, respectful care, not rushed or task-driven visits.
Experience and suitability
We strongly prefer applicants with previous care experience, particularly:
- Paid in-home (domiciliary) care experience
- Or significant unpaid care experience supporting a family member
Because this role involves working closely with clients in their own homes, a high standard of spoken and written English is essential. You must be comfortable holding natural conversations, understanding nuanced instructions, and communicating clearly with families and professionals.
Some clients require intimate personal care and may request same-gender support to maintain dignity and privacy. Applicants must be comfortable meeting these needs where required.
Essential requirements
- Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- Right to Work in the UK (we cannot offer sponsorship)
- Reliable, organised and able to work independently
What we offer
- £14.00/hour starting rate with 5% annual pay increases
- Guaranteed hours from the outset (20+ hours)
- Paid training and a work phone
- Mileage paid at 35p per mile and paid travel time
- Supportive, accessible management and clear communication
- Opportunity to increase hours as the business grows.
