Join a more thoughtful kind of home care company
We are a small, relationship-led home care company supporting privately funded clients in their own homes across Whitstable, Herne Bay, Canterbury and nearby areas.
We are looking for kind, reliable Care Assistants who want stable hours, regular clients and enough time to provide calm, dignified care.
Our care is not rushed or task-driven. We focus on building trust, supporting independence and helping each client feel safe, comfortable and respected in their own home.
This role would suit someone who enjoys working with older people, communicates clearly and takes pride in providing thoughtful, dependable care.
What we offer
- £14.00 per hour starting rate
- Paid travel time between visits
- Mileage paid at 35p per mile
- Guaranteed hours from the outset, usually starting between 10 and 20 hours per week depending on your availability
- Opportunities to increase your hours as the business grows
- Regular clients and a consistent rota wherever possible
- Paid training
- A work phone
- Supportive and accessible management
- Clear communication and a respectful working environment
- Annual pay progression for reliable, high-performing carers
Availability we are looking for
We are particularly interested in applicants who can offer regular availability during the week, some early evenings and alternate weekends.
Our busiest care times are usually:
- Weekday mornings and lunchtimes
- Some early evenings
- Alternate weekends
You do not need to be available all day, every day. We will agree your guaranteed hours based on the availability you can reliably commit to.
This position is best suited to someone looking for regular, long-term work rather than occasional or ad hoc shifts.
What you will be doing
You will support private clients in their own homes with a combination of companionship, personal care and practical assistance.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing companionship, conversation and reassurance
- Supporting clients with washing, dressing and personal care
- Assisting with mobility and safe movement around the home
- Preparing meals and drinks
- Helping clients maintain familiar routines and independence
- Following individual care plans
- Noticing and reporting changes in a client’s health or wellbeing
- Communicating professionally with clients, families and healthcare professionals
- Completing clear and accurate care notes
- Supporting clients with dignity, privacy, patience and respect
Our visits are designed to be calm, respectful and relationship-led.
Experience and suitability
Previous care experience is preferred, particularly experience in domiciliary or home care.
However, we will also consider applicants who have significant unpaid caring experience, excellent people skills and the right values.
You may be a good fit for this role if you are:
- Reliable and punctual
- Warm, patient and respectful
- Comfortable working independently
- Organised and able to follow care plans and instructions
- Confident communicating with older people and their families
- Observant and willing to report concerns promptly
- Looking for stable, meaningful work with regular clients
Communication and client safety
Clear spoken and written English is essential for safe care delivery.
You must be able to:
- Read and follow care plans
- Write accurate care notes
- Report concerns clearly and promptly
- Communicate confidently with clients and their families
- Contact the office, healthcare professionals or emergency services when necessary
This requirement supports client safety, accurate record-keeping and effective communication with the older people we care for.
Essential requirements
To apply, you must have:
- A full UK driving licence
- Access to your own vehicle
- The Right to Work in the UK
- Reliable availability for your agreed working hours
- Clear spoken and written English
- A willingness to provide personal care where required
- The ability to work across Whitstable, Herne Bay, Canterbury and surrounding areas
Please note that we are not currently able to offer visa sponsorship.
About the role
This is a domiciliary care position, so you will travel between clients’ homes during your working day.
Because we pay both travel time and mileage, we aim to plan sensible local rounds and prioritise applicants who live within or close to the areas we support.
We work with privately funded clients. This allows us to focus on regular visits, consistent carers and enough time to provide a more considered and personal standard of care.
