At Visiting Angels, we’re not only proud of the exceptional care our team provides every day, but also of the extraordinary talents that shine within our caregivers. We’re thrilled to announce that our very own Gordon Robertson from the Renfrewshire and Inverclyde office has won the grand finale of the national talent show, Homecare’s Got Talent (HCGT).
Gordon’s remarkable performance, which featured his original song “Boys Will Be Boys,” captivated the audience and judges alike. This powerful piece, inspired by his personal experiences with bullying, resonated deeply with everyone present. His heartfelt lyrics and stunning vocals earned him a standing ovation and secured his well-deserved victory.
The competition was fierce, with 12 talented finalists from across the UK showcasing a variety of skills—from dancing and singing to baton twirling. Yet, it was Gordon’s raw emotion and incredible talent that set him apart, leaving a lasting impression on the star-studded judging panel, which included reality TV star Tanya Bardsley, radio host Becky Measures, presenter Duncan Wood, and musician Simon Frederick Stevens.
Tanya Bardsley, moved to tears by Gordon’s performance, shared: “I relate to Gordon’s story in his song, having experienced bullying myself. I was stunned by his amazing vocal and songwriting ability. It’s an inspiration in the way he has positively channelled the hardships he faced by giving back to others through his career in care.”
Gordon’s journey to this victory is a testament to the resilience and compassion that he brings to his role as a caregiver. His courage to share his story on such a large stage mirrors the dedication he shows every day in caring for the people of Renfrewshire who need support in their homes. Gordon’s talent and heart truly exemplify the spirit of Visiting Angels.
As the winner of Homecare’s Got Talent, Gordon received a grand prize that includes £1,000 cash, a holiday for two, and an opportunity to perform at this year’s Carefest—a celebration of healthcare workers that raises money for The Care Workers Charity. This recognition is not only a celebration of his musical abilities but also of the vital and compassionate work he does as part of the Visiting Angels family.
Gordon’s reaction to his win was one of humble surprise: “I’m absolutely delighted and can’t believe that something I wrote has won me the competition, especially given how incredible all the acts were. I’m in total shock.”
At Visiting Angels, we are incredibly proud of Gordon’s achievement and the light he has shone on the importance of empathy, both in music and in care. His story is a reminder of the power of creativity and kindness, and we’re honored to have him as part of our team.
