Companionship at home, from your local Berkshire team
For many people in Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire, the hardest part of getting older isn’t a practical task. It’s the quiet. Family may live further away, friends move or pass away, and the trips into town, to church or to the garden centre stop happening. Companionship care is there to put that connection back.
Visiting Angels Berkshire is a local, CQC-registered home care team based at One St Peters, 1 St Peter’s Road, Maidenhead. Our caregivers live and work across the area, so the person who visits you knows the local roads, shops and community.
CQC: registered, awaiting our first inspection. No CQC rating yet.
Rated Good in an independent audit by QCM2us. This is not a CQC rating.
What a companionship visit can look like
Every visit is built around the person, not a checklist. Depending on what you enjoy, your caregiver might:
Chat and a cup of tea
Sit down for a proper chat and a cup of tea.
Walks, coffee and shops
Go with you for a walk along the river, a coffee in town or a trip to the shops.
Clubs, appointments and church
Help you get to clubs, appointments, church or visits to friends.
Shared hobbies
Share a hobby, such as gardening, baking, puzzles, music or old photographs.
Light tasks along the way
Help with light tasks, such as preparing a snack or tidying up after lunch.
Visits start from one hour
Often within 24 hours of assessment
Visits are flexible and arranged around your routine. Companionship visits start from one hour, and you can increase them if your needs change.
You choose your caregiver
Inviting someone into your home is a big decision, so you stay in control. We introduce you to suitable caregivers based on personality, interests and routines, not just availability. You meet them before care begins, and you have the final say. If the match isn’t quite right later, just tell us and we’ll arrange a change, with no awkwardness.

Where we provide companionship care
Our local caregivers support people in Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough, Ascot, Bracknell, Marlow, Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross, and the villages around them.
Villages we serve include Cookham, Bray, Holyport, Taplow, Burnham, Datchet, Eton and Sunningdale. If you live nearby and aren’t sure whether we cover your area, give us a call. We’ll always do our best to help.
When companionship is part of a bigger picture
Companionship care is non-medical, but needs can change. The same local team also provides personal care, overnight support, dementia care and live-in care, so you can add support later without starting again with a new provider.

Magda came to introduce Dad to two wonderful ladies, who are both fabulous. They are so caring, and he has really got to know and trust them…

Enquire about companionship care
Your questions about companionship care, answered
Companionship care is non-medical support at home that focuses on company, conversation and staying connected. A caregiver visits you regularly to spend quality time together: chatting, going out, sharing hobbies or helping you keep up the routines you enjoy. It’s for anyone who feels lonely or isolated, or who would just like someone to go out with.
Common signs are spending most days alone, losing confidence about going out, stopping hobbies or social groups, or family feeling worried between visits. It often helps after a bereavement, a move, or when a partner or relative can no longer visit as often. You don’t need a medical reason. If you think some regular company would help, it’s worth a chat.
Yes. Most of the people we support are older adults living in their own homes across Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough, Ascot, Bracknell, Marlow, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and the surrounding villages. Visits are arranged around your routine and can sit alongside other support, such as personal care or dementia care, if you need it.
Regular company helps fight loneliness, which can affect both mood and health. A familiar, trusted caregiver can help you stay active, keep getting out into the local community and keep doing the things you love at home. For families, it means peace of mind that someone is regularly seeing, listening to and looking out for their loved one.
You choose your caregiver. We match you on personality and interests, you meet them before care starts, and you can ask for a change at any time. We’re a local team based in Maidenhead, our caregivers are DBS-checked and referenced, and we’re registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC). As a newly registered service, we’re awaiting our first CQC inspection, so we don’t yet have a published CQC rating. Separately, we’ve been rated Good in an independent audit by QCM2us (qcm2us.co.uk) — this is an independent quality audit, not a CQC rating. Call 01753 306187 for a free home assessment.
