Mum lives in a retirement development in Ascot and, after suffering a fall that required a hip replacement, she was worried that she might not be able to return to the place she loves so much. We were also concerned about how she would manage when she came home. Magda from Visiting Angels came to assess her while she was still in hospital and had everything ready for her discharge. When Magda said that they take the time to match carers with clients based on their personalities, she really meant it. Mum’s carers are a perfect match for her kind, reliable and so well suited to her personality. She genuinely looks forward to seeing them. Having such lovely, consistent support locally has made a huge difference to Mum.

My dad was in St Mark’s Hospital in Maidenhead, and we needed to arrange care very quickly so he could be discharged and come home. I called Visiting Angels and spoke to Grace, who was so understanding and said she could come out to do an assessment that same day. She was incredibly helpful and managed to get everything in place without any fuss. Magda came to introduce Dad to two wonderful ladies, who are both fabulous. They are so caring, and he has really got to know and trust them. It’s lovely that he sees the same two familiar faces rather than lots of different people coming into his home. I am so grateful to the whole team for making a stressful situation so much easier for me.

From the very first phone call, the team at Visiting Angels were really patient and took the time to understand what Mum needed. They helped us get everything arranged quickly, including her assessment at home in Windsor, and matched her with a carer who has turned out to be a really good fit. Mum’s confidence had really disappeared after her fall. She stopped going out much and didn’t feel comfortable doing things on her own anymore, so it’s been lovely to see the change in her. She’s now enjoying short walks again and even feels confident enough to go into Windsor town with her carer, which she hadn’t been doing at all. It’s made such a difference to all of us really. Mum feels safe and comfortable, and she genuinely enjoys spending time with her carer. We feel much more reassured knowing she’s in kind and capable hands and would definitely recommend Visiting Angels to any family looking for care and support.

We have been using the services of Visiting Angels to provide 24 hour live in care for our Mum, following a couple of falls and hip operations. All the carers they have provided have been very kind and gentle with Mum. Sally has been looking after Mum on a regular basis and she not only provides great care but also great company for Mum, when Dad has his head buried in a book or watching sport on TV. Debbie has also kept in regular contact with Mum and the family making sure that we are happy with the care being provided.

1am on Tuesday and in comes Emily. She’s like a breath of fresh air. We talk and decide what we will do together today. It could be a short walk, tidy the cupboards, weed the patio or paint by numbers. The possibilities are endless. We chat all the time. She’s very easy to be with. She loves to be in the garden. She tells me about her dogs and about Flyball. So you see she’s educating me. We chat about Debbie and her chicks. Our time together is lovely. When it’s time for her to go she always says Tuesdays are her favourite day.. they are mine too. So with a big hug and love she’s off to make someone else happy that’s Emily. And there’s so much more for another day - Bonnie Dolman

My mother has received excellent care from her two carers from Visiting Angels. They are kind, patient and help her with all the tasks she struggles with. She looks forward to their twice daily visits and it gives us peace of mind to know that she is being looked after when we're at work. I can highly recommend Visiting Angels.

My mother in law is living with dementia and was resistant to the idea of carers at first. She has bonded with the carers and built a beautiful relationship. The girls always greet her with warmth and it is so lovely to see the way they support and interact with her. Thank you Visiting Angels, keep up the good work!

Visiting Angels have allowed my dad to stay at home, where he loves. Their support is a real source of reassurance for us, his family, who are some distance away, as we know someone is keeping an eye on him and will step in if anything is needed.

Care that fits life in Windsor

Our caregivers live locally and support families across the town and nearby villages. Good care keeps people doing the things they enjoy: a slow loop of Alexandra Gardens, a coffee on Peascod Street, or a drive out to Windsor Great Park and the Long Walk. We plan visits around those habits, not the other way round. Many families first call us when someone is about to come home from King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor or from Wexham Park. We can assess on the ward and have support ready for the day of discharge.Finding home care in Windsor: a step-by-step guide

We cover Windsor, Old Windsor, Eton and Datchet, plus Clewer, Dedworth, Eton Wick, Wraysbury and Dorney. If you’re just outside these areas, call us. We cover much of the Royal Borough and wider Berkshire, and we’ll tell you honestly if we can’t reach you.

How quickly can care start in Windsor?

After an initial home visit to understand your needs, we can often start within 24 hours of your assessment, depending on your needs. Call us on 01753 306187 and we’ll talk through what’s possible. Our office phone line is open 8am–11pm, seven days a week.

Can you help when someone is coming home from hospital?

Yes. We often support people coming home from King Edward VII Hospital in Windsor and from Wexham Park. Where possible we assess on the ward, so support is ready when your loved one gets home, and we can often start within 24 hours of your assessment, depending on your needs. Read about care after hospital.

Can I choose my own caregiver?

Yes. You’ll meet potential caregivers before care begins, and you have the final say. We match on personality, interests and routines, not just availability. If the fit isn’t right, tell us and we’ll find someone better suited, with no awkwardness.

Are you CQC registered, and are your caregivers DBS-checked?

Visiting Angels Berkshire is CQC registered. We have not yet had our first full CQC inspection, so there is no inspection rating to show yet. You can view our CQC registration profile on the CQC website. Every caregiver is DBS-checked and thoroughly referenced.

What’s the difference between hourly home care and live-in care?

Hourly home care means a caregiver visits at scheduled times, from one-hour visits to several hours a day. Live-in care means a caregiver moves into the home and supports your loved one day to day. Night support is available with our live-in care, and caregiver breaks are agreed with you at your free assessment. Many families start with hourly visits and move to live-in care as needs change.

Do you support people living with dementia or memory loss?

Yes. All our caregivers receive dementia training, with extra specialist training arranged when needed. We focus on routines, familiar faces and a calm, patient approach. Read about dementia care in Windsor.
