Companion Care

Companion care provides assistance to older adults who need to live safely and comfortably at home. This type of home care covers a range of basic tasks and activities that many older adults find difficult to perform on their own. In other situations, these obstacles can put you at risk of losing their independence. But with companion care, you can maintain their routines and continue to age in place.

At Visiting Angels, companion caregiving is one of our most popular services, covering a broad range of caregiving duties. This makes it a great choice for seniors who need a bit of help to remain at home, but who don’t require advanced caregiving.

Hospital Discharge

Many older adults functionally decline after a hospitalisation, which impairs independence and quality of life. Even the most basic tasks become overwhelming and exhausting.

While still in the hospital or rehab, patients can ask the important questions outlined in using the guide to record information discussed in discharge plans with health care providers, seniors can identify areas requiring assistance and determine who (family, friends, neighbours and/or Visiting Angels) can help and coordinate their care at home.

Our Visiting Angels team will visit you in the hospital and have a plan in place before discharge to ensure peace of mind for the entire family. With the input from loved ones and healthcare providers, we individualise care to meet their specific needs.

Shaheer Akhtar – Managing Director

Coming from a tight knit community and being surrounded by elderly family members and friends. I have always found myself in the forefront in helping them with daily activities. With a calm and caring nature, I have always known that my satisfaction comes from helping others. Eventually this turned into an ambition with the aim to establish a high-quality home care service to a standard everyone deserves.

With experience in the customer service industry, I have acquired useful knowledge of being able to provide good customer care and dealing with different situations in a pragmatic and resourceful way, thus feeling now is the right time to fulfil my passion.

I want to make a difference, especially with those who suffer dementia and are in need of extensive palliative care as this can definitively take a toll on the individual and the whole family. To lessen the pain and to see a smile… would be the greatest reward for myself.

Several years ago, my father was diagnosed with Parkinsons disease, leading me to have a career overhaul and igniting a passion for helping people lead the best quality of life they could.
