Thank you so much all of you and Jade for going that extra mile. Fabulous to see a cheeky smile on her face again.

So good to see mum smiling! You have made such a positive difference in a very short time. The care you provide to mum is wonderful.

Thank you so much

I have nothing but praise for Visiting Angels – such a caring team of people, always pleasant, never in a hurry and nothing is too much trouble!  They certainly go the extra mile and I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Some absolutely key areas in which Visiting Angels achieve excellence:

  • Reliability: Always on time ( or I get notified)
  • Consistency : They understand the importance of routine
  • Empathy: They get it!

Having understand all the aspects of the care industry over many years, I am well versed in the potential issues when employing additional support. VA removes 90% of those problems and issues. Their attention to detail is excellent, communication is excellent and the calibre of the staff is impressive.

They demonstrate an understanding of the needs of my mother and of the rest of my family ( from whom they are lifting some responsibility), and that only comes from empathy, and  something that disappointingly you don’t always find in a carer- genuine care.

Many other organizations would do well to pay close attention to how VA operates.

I have been massively impressed by Visiting Angels North Shropshire’s work ethic and wish that all care providers offered the same dignity and standards.  I will definitely be recommending Visiting Angels North Shropshire to anyone who might need your services

Thank you for all your support on Thursday , despite a small attendance it was still lovely . Jade was lovely and fitted in nicely in the group it would be great to see her again

My Angels are wonderful, particularly little Kayley.

Kayley does everything I ask, they all do, but she is particularly special. Its like having a little family.

E.T

Your care is exceptional. My Uncle is so happy . I never thought I would see the day . Thank you for all you do!

-RR

Just thanking you both for the care and consideration you gave my uncle this morning, you were fantastic.  Never thought I would see the day when he would be happy having carers in his house, but he is looking forward to it now, thank you

Simply lovely, Thank you all so much for everything you have done for mum. Getting her back in garden- she keeps commenting on her seedlings and reading the research you did for her during her time at Goya as a young woman, talking about her old boss- the creator of the Goya perfume. Just Cant thank you enough.

Made my day, you are so kind and caring and I cannot wait to start with you, god bless you all – you really are true angels!

-PB

The most extraordinary group of caring and compassionate people I have ever met. Visiting angels took over care for my mum in the final stages of her life and looked after her with such care, passion and professionalism that my few words here can’t do enough justice. They ensured mum’s dignity at all stages and when times were tough they supported the family. If you are reading this, don’t hesitate, give them a call. Thank you to all the Angels I was fortunate enough to meet.

G. Lowe

I wanted to thank you for a very easy start to a new regime for mum. Your carers have been excellent – a really good team with a very efficient process- I’m genuinely impressed!

Research by Age UK shows that of the 3.6 million older people who live alone in the UK, 1.9 million often feel ‘ignored or invisible’. It also reveals that loneliness can be as harmful for health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.

Meet The Team

Mark Goodall- Director

class="img-responsive

I come from Essex but have strong family roots with Oswestry. I come from a logistics and management background but have worked varied roles throughout my life. Now, I am finding myself back in my mother’s hometown of Oswestry, amongst many family members, which has taken me back to my good old childhood days. My fond memories remind me that I have spent many years in Oswestry on long family holidays with my mother, father, brother, grandparents and cousins and I have such great memories of the area with sun filled day trips to outstanding places of nature and beauty.

The care experience is a new journey for me. I have strong family values and a caring nature and I have the same values and aims as Nicky – to provide an outstanding service and to be carer centric and place the Angels at the heart of what we do. I understand about delivering a high quality of service to our Clients and to encourage people to make choices in the care they receive. I also understand how important it is to feel valued as an Angel. It is a tough job and I do not feel that this is always recognised in the social care industry. I am proud of our team and what they do. I aim to use my skills to build strong relationships with our Angels and clients.

Now I have come back to the local community to integrate and get the chance to support the team in the beautiful Shropshire countryside again – what could be better than delivering a personal service with the chance to help the local community?

Nicky Goodall- Director

class="img-responsive

My background brings me from Essex to Shropshire. After having my children and working as a PA in London, I found myself falling into the world of care. Later in life, I was on the pathway to management within a private service, changing the system for how care was delivered and my journey into the care world began! I have worked for two leading companies in the care sector as a trainer, recruiter and field supervisor and then later as Registered Manager.

I have seen first hand, some of the issues faced within working for the home care services, I have been there and worked the roles! Staff are often under-valued and under-paid and clients have a high turn over of staff and no trust because of this.

Our vision is very different at Visiting Angels and makes us carer centric! One of the most important values we have is that we recognise the worth of our Angels – they are important to us, they are very needed in the community and are hardworking and do a very tough dedicated job! I support our staff to deliver care in the local community and I certainly do not mind rolling my sleeves up to make sure the Angels and clients are supported; you may see me in the community caring – that’s what we do – we support each other and work as a team.

My journey and dedication to the care service has landed me in one of the most beautiful parts of the world where I am looking forward to getting to know the community, making a difference, and spreading our Visiting Angels love and service to Angels and Clients.

Lou Cotton- Registered Manager

I am Lou Cotton and I am thrilled to be joining the VANS team. I am married to my husband Chris and I am Mum of 3 beautiful boys. I am naturally an outgoing chatty person with a good sense of humour, I do like a good giggle.

My work in the care sector has been varied. I have been a CQC registered manager in a busy Shared Lives Service across the Midlands region and I have also ran a domiciliary care service in Telford more recently.

I have a high level of energy and an immense drive to make a real difference in people’s lives be it service users, their families and members of the team. I want to help people live the best life possible and if I can help people be the best versions of themselves along the way too I know I have done a great job.

Debbie Duffy – Care Manager

I’ve been working in the care industry since 2001, with a focus on home care, supporting people to live in their own homes and maintain their independence for as long as possible. Throughout my career, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for individuals to stay in familiar surroundings, and I’m passionate about helping them achieve that.

I’ve always believed in the power of compassionate, person-centered care. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to expand my knowledge and skills, and I’m proud to have achieved my Level 5 qualification. This has given me a deeper understanding of care management and leadership and has allowed me to move into more strategic roles within the industry.

I’m excited to continue growing my career with Visiting Angels, where I can further my commitment to providing exceptional care while making a positive impact on the lives of those I support. I’m also eager to mentor others in the care sector as I continue to grow both personally and professionally.

Cheryl McCarthy – Deputy Care Manager

I am a single Mum of 3 and although my name is spelt with a ‘Ch’ it is actually pronounced as ‘Sh’, I get asked that a lot.

In my spare time I like to read, do jigsaws and look after my plants (although I am not as green fingered as I’d like to be). Socialising is also something I enjoy, although I have been known to hibernate during the winter months, I can be quietly competitive and love an escape room.

I have worked as a teaching assistant for the last 12 years while bringing up my children. I found this a hugely rewarding job but now my youngest is becoming more independent and I feel that the time is right to take on a new challenge. I have almost 10 years’ experience in domiciliary care with lots of that being hands on. I have NVQ qualifications in Health and Social Care and have almost completed a Psychology degree with The Open University.

I love the ethos of Visiting Angels and am really looking forward to being part of this amazing team. I aim to meet all our lovely clients along the way so you may see me out and about outside of office hours too. Bring on the fun!

Robyn Peters- Trainer & Recruiter

I have been in the care industry for many years in different roles, including complex care.  I have lots of knowledge to cascade and I feel excited and privileged to be the trainer and recruiter for Visiting Angels, helping to shape our Angels to be the best caregivers for our wonderful clients.

I have two wonderful children and a busy family life with my partner.

Faye Joy – Senior Caregiver and Trainer

class="img-responsive

I am a widowed Mother of 3 beautiful daughters, who I adore. My care experience was nursing my husband for 10 years until he passed away in 2017 of cancer. I remember how lonely that felt and how hard it was going from wife to carer . I have always enjoyed and taken pride in helping people and believe I found my calling when I came across Visiting Angels.

With my history I truly understand how hard it can be for my clients and their families ,I am honored to be apart of their lives and to be able to just ease some of their life hurdles and bring a few smiles along the way.

Bethany Holmes Davies –  Senior Care Coordinator

class="img-responsive

I live in the local area and I have an amazing family.  I have worked in care for many years and aim to give the best to clients and carer’s.  I am proud that I have gained my level 3 in health and social care and I am now completing my level 4.

Georgi Davidson –  Care Coordinator/ Administrator

class="img-responsive

Hi, I am Georgi, and I am new to the Visiting Angels family.  I am a busy wife and mum and have a young son.  I love everything to do with care and horses.  I have worked in care for many years and enjoy being part of supporting clients with their journey and their care options and supporting the team members too.”

Buddy (2009- 2024)

Buddy was born in 2009, and although he was old, he never quite outgrew his cheeky habit of barking—a fact the neighbors knew all too well. He loved nothing more than chasing birds, his little legs carrying him with all the determination in the world.

Buddy wasn’t too fond of other dogs, so he didn’t have many friends, but he was perfectly content with his own company and the loving presence of his family. He was a champion napper, often snoozing for at least six hours a day, curled up cozily in his bed, whether in the office or lounging at home.Particular and proud, Buddy had quite the refined palate. Dog food simply wouldn’t do. He preferred to dine like a king, sharing whatever Mum and Dad were having for dinner. Beef stew with a few bits of biscuit was his absolute favorite.

Though he’s no longer chasing birds or begging for a taste of dinner, Buddy’s spirited personality and loving presence will always be cherished.

Leider

Leider is a retired Guide Dog and is full of character.  Leider joined the VANS family in January 2025 and is still earning her wings and working on improving her office etiquette.  Leider is our Team Ambassador, and you may see her out in the community – hold on to your goodies as she has a habit of taking items that do not belong to her.

“I want to thank you for sending me such a wonderful Angel to help me during my recuperation. I always felt safe and comfortable when she was here.”

Dorothy K

“Thank for literally being “visiting angels” to dad. Without you his life would not have that magic touch you brought to him. You will be treasured for your work.”

John

Rarely do company names reflect their activities, yours most certainly does.

From all our dealings with you and your staff, you have continually exceeded our expectations.

From my very first call to you on 25th of July with a “Yes of course we can help” to the end of your caring, during which time you and your staff have been wonderful.

Verna could be a very forceful and determineed woman. She was always treated with great Dignity, kindness, understanding and humour.

I must make a special mention regarding Alex, she really is an Angel with a capital ‘A’. Her treatment of Vern a was exemplary as well as making both my wife and myself more at ease with Verna’s situation. When mother was really poorly and I was unable to be with her, She even popped her head around the corner to make sure she was ok.

Nothing seemed too much trouble to her to make sure that Verna was happy and as comfortable as possible.

The carer profession cannot be the easiest, but you and your staff have continually shown the respect anyone would like their family member to receive.
