Building Community Connections with the Garden Residents Association, Allington

This month, we had the pleasure of welcoming Heather Spring and Jill from the Garden Residents Association, Allington, into our Visiting Angels Lincolnshire office.

Heather, the Chair of the Association, is deeply passionate about community building and the wellbeing of residents at Allington Gardens. Our meeting was filled with positive energy and a shared commitment to supporting local people and strengthening connections across the Allington and Lincolnshire community.

We had a fantastic discussion about how Visiting Angels Lincolnshire can make a real difference in the lives of residents who may be in need of care and companionship at home. We shared how our approach to home care services is built on respect, meaningful relationships, and genuine compassion.

Putting People Before Uniforms

One topic that really resonated was our no-uniform policy. Heather and Jill were delighted to learn that this isn’t just a stylistic choice—it’s a meaningful part of our philosophy. We believe our carers should be remembered by their name, not their uniform. Our goal is to build trust and companionship, not formality.

That’s also why we have a minimum visit length of one hour. This gives our carers enough time to deliver high-quality care, prepare meals, complete notes, and—most importantly—build real relationships. We all agreed that it’s unrealistic to expect carers to provide personal, compassionate support in short half-hour visits. Instead, clients deserve to see a familiar face—someone who has time to listen, care, and truly be present.

Carer-Centric Values That Benefit Everyone

At Visiting Angels Lincolnshire, we believe happy carers create happy clients. That’s why we take a carer-centric approach—paying good hourly rates, covering mileage and travel time, and promoting continuity of care. These principles lead to high carer retention and, as a result, clients benefit from seeing the same friendly faces regularly.

Partnering with the Allington Community

We also agreed to take part in local events organised by the Garden Residents Association. The Association hosts a fantastic range of activities throughout the year, including the Big Brunchshowscoffee mornings, and charity events held in the Allington Village Hall. These events bring residents together and strengthen the sense of community across Allington and the surrounding areas.

We’re very excited to be part of these occasions and to contribute to the vibrant local spirit that makes Allington such a wonderful place to live.

Working Together for a Stronger Community

Together with the Garden Residents Association, Visiting Angels Lincolnshire is looking forward to building meaningful partnerships that help improve the wellbeing of older residents and those in need of care and companionship.

It’s inspiring to meet people like Heather and Jill who share our passion for community care in Lincolnshire and for making a lasting, positive difference in people’s lives.
