Could you spare your weekends to make a difference in someone’s life?
At Visiting Angels Leeds & Wakefield, we’re looking for caring, reliable people to join our team, supporting older people to stay happy, safe and independent in their own homes.
No previous care experience is necessary. We’ll give you all the training and support you need. What matters most is kindness, reliability, patience and a genuine wish to help others.
About the role
We’re looking for care assistants available at weekends, with the opportunity to pick up additional weekday hours if you’d like them.
Many of our clients simply need companionship, help around the home, support with meals, shopping or appointments, or a friendly face to brighten their day. Others need more personal care, and you’ll be fully trained before supporting anyone with that.
We support clients across Leeds and Wakefield, and are especially keen to hear from people living in or near Horbury, Ossett and Dewsbury (WF4, WF5 and WF12).
What you’ll do
Every client is different, and you’ll always follow their care plan. Depending on the person you’re supporting, your day might include:
- Companionship, conversation and activities that support wellbeing
- Personal care, such as help with washing, dressing and grooming
- Preparing meals and drinks, and helping with eating where needed
- Light housekeeping to keep the home clean and safe
- Medication support, once you’ve been trained and assessed
- Helping with mobility and getting around safely
- Driving clients to appointments, shopping or outings
- Supporting people living with dementia, with patience and understanding
- Keeping accurate records on our digital system, and letting the office know about any changes
What we offer
At Visiting Angels, we put our caregivers first. In return for your kindness and commitment, you’ll get:
- Excellent rates of pay
- Paid travel time between calls, as well as mileage
- Paid training and ongoing support from day one
- A professional development plan to help you build a career in care
- Flexible hours, with the option of extra weekday shifts
- A friendly, supportive local team
- Meaningful work where you genuinely make a difference
What you’ll need
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
- The right to work in the UK (we are unable to offer visa sponsorship)
- To be aged 18 or over
- Good spoken and written English
- Basic IT skills for keeping records
- Availability at weekends
Previous care experience is welcome but not essential. Full training is provided.
Is this you?
Whether you’re returning to work, looking for a career change, reducing your current hours, or simply want a more rewarding role, we’d love to hear from you.
