What is Attendance Allowance?
Attendance allowance is a non means tested benefit for people over state pension age who are finding daily living more difficult than it used to be. Your finances wont be taken into account, you can claim even if you are a millionaire.
Am I eligible?
If you are over state pension age and are finding life difficult because of a physical or mental disability you may be eligible to claim. you need to be in Great Britain when you claim, have lived in Britain for the last 2 out of 3 years and be habitually resident. If you are recieving PIP or DLA you will NOT be eligible to claim for attendance allowance.
How much is paid?
There are two rates of attendance allowance.
Low Level is £72.65 per week from April 2024
High Level is £108.55 per week from April 2024
Is it a complicated form?
It is 30 pages long and can take a considerable length of time to complete. People often feel overwhelmed or confused by some of the questions.
How do I claim?
Family Care Advice can support you to claim. The charge a fee but when they request the form, attendance allowance is backdated to the date the request was made. You can also download the form from the DWP website but it will only be backdated to when the DWP receives the completed claim.
