At Visiting Angels South Yorkshire, we know how important companionship and community are, not just for our clients, but for everyone in the area. That’s why we are proud to sponsor and support ‘Chatter Club’ at The Barrel Pub in Chapeltown, a monthly event that brings people together over tea, coffee, cake, music and plenty of laughter.

Held on the last Wednesday of every month from 12pm – 3pm, Chatter Club is a warm and welcoming space for everyone in the community to enjoy. Hosted in partnership with Kathy Markwick, who is well known locally thanks to her many years working in care and community projects, the club has already become a much-loved part of the Chapeltown calendar.

What to expect at Chatter Club

  • Tea, coffee, cake and a warm welcome, provided by Visiting Angels
  • Live entertainment, with singers and music that get people dancing
  • Quizzes and raffles, run by our fantastic care team
  • The option to buy a delicious pub lunch, fish and chips are always popular!

At our most recent event, over 50 people came along, including several of our clients who attended with their Visiting Angels caregivers. It was wonderful to see people chatting, singing along, and making new friends. In fact, four new clients have already joined us after being introduced to Visiting Angels at Chatter Club, proof of how powerful community connections can be.

Why we love hosting Chatter Club

Loneliness and isolation are challenges for many older people, and events like Chatter Club help break down barriers, encourage friendships, and create joyful moments. For our caregivers too, it’s a chance to see the difference they make outside of day-to-day care visits, supporting clients to join in, feel part of the community, and enjoy life.

Could you be a Visiting Angel?

Our caregivers often tell us that events like Chatter Club are the highlight of their month, a chance to see smiles, laughter and friendships blossom. If you have ever thought about a career in care, Visiting Angels is different. We put our caregivers at the heart of everything we do, offering support, flexibility and recognition, that you won’t always find elsewhere in the care sector.

If you’d like to work for a care company that values you, gives you time to build real relationships with clients, and supports community events like Chatter Club, we’d love to hear from you.
