Values’ provide the foundation of a company culture – they are not just meaningless words – they are the company DNA .
Today at Visiting Angels, our company values shone through brightly and I’m in awe of the remarkable service that we provide.
The message below that we received from a family after their father sadly passed away beautifully highlights our values of Relationships and Family.
Our caregivers are just amazing, giving so much of themselves and being there for the whole family, not just the client.
“My heart is aching but also because we’ re losing our new family – you guys. I hope you can come to the funeral; you were all so important to him and us xxx”
Nimble and Freedom, are two of our important values that were also demonstrated in a day-to-day care provider event described below.
I simply answered a phone call this afternoon and said yes!
“I’m not sure how this works but do you think someone would come tonight and help me put my pad on”.
This remarkable 90-year-old lady has found independent solutions to most of her life challenges so far but identified that she needed this extra support. Of course, we visited and will continue to do so for as long as she needs us .
I’m also reminded today of my favourite poem that is so apt in our world of supporting people who are losing some of their ability to live completely independently.
Our aim is to simply fill the gap so that they can have the Freedom to live as independently as possible.
I thought I was independent
If I could do it all myself
But true, true independence
Is the capacity to ask for help
