Here\u2019s what you need to know.<\/p><h3 class=\"\">What Is Attendance Allowance?<\/h3><p class=\"\"><strong>Attendance Allowance<\/strong> is a <strong>tax-free<\/strong>, <b>non-means-tested<\/b> benefit available to people over <strong>State Pension age<\/strong> who need help due to a physical or mental disability. This includes conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, vision or hearing impairments, dementia, and many others that impact daily life.<\/p><p class=\"\">You do not need to have a carer or be receiving care to qualify\u2014it&#8217;s enough that you would benefit from help or supervision.<\/p><h3 class=\"\">How Much Could You Receive?<\/h3><p class=\"\">The amount you receive depends on the level of help you need:<\/p><ul><li class=\"\"><p class=\"\"><b>Lower Rate \u2013 \u00a372.65 per week<\/b>: For those who need help either during the day or night.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\"><p class=\"\"><b>Higher Rate \u2013 \u00a3108.55 per week<\/b>: For those who need help both during the day and at night, or who are terminally ill.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\">That\u2019s up to <b>\u00a35,645 per year<\/b>\u2014money that can help cover the cost of care, mobility support, home adaptations, or anything else that improves quality of life.<\/p><h3 class=\"\">Are You Eligible?<\/h3><p class=\"\">You could be eligible for Attendance Allowance if:<\/p><ul><li class=\"\"><p class=\"\">You are <strong>66 or older<\/strong><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\"><p class=\"\">You have a <strong>disability or health condition<\/strong> that affects your daily living<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\"><p class=\"\">You\u2019ve needed support for at least <strong>6 months<\/strong><\/p><\/li><li class=\"\"><p class=\"\">You <strong>live in the UK<\/strong> and meet the residency requirements<\/p><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\">Importantly, Attendance Allowance <strong>is not affected by your savings or income<\/strong>, and receiving it <strong>won\u2019t reduce other benefits<\/strong>\u2014in fact, it could even increase your eligibility for other forms of support.<\/p><h3 class=\"\">How to Apply<\/h3><p class=\"\">You can apply directly through the government by completing the <strong>Attendance Allowance claim form<\/strong> (AA1A), which can be downloaded online or requested by post. The form is detailed and can take time to complete correctly\u2014it asks about your health, mobility, and the kind of help you need throughout the day and night.<\/p><p class=\"\">Because many applications are unsuccessful due to lack of detail or misunderstanding the questions, it&#8217;s important to approach the form with care.
