Amy Lahner – Care Director

Amy’s journey into home care began long before she joined Visiting Angels. Trained as a physiotherapist at the University of Witwatersrand, she spent years helping people recover from surgery and manage chronic conditions—supporting them not just physically, but emotionally too.

Running her own physiotherapy practice in Johannesburg, she saw firsthand how deeply personal care can shape someone’s quality of life.

That experience sparked a passion for care that goes beyond the clinic. Amy understands how much it matters to feel safe, respected, and supported at home—especially during vulnerable times. As Care Director at Visiting Angels North Kent, she brings that insight into every decision, making sure care is always tailored, dignified, and rooted in empathy.

Amy believes that great care starts with listening—with truly understanding each person’s story, and shaping support around their unique needs. She’s also a firm believer in the power of a confident, well-supported care team, and works closely with carers to ensure they feel valued, empowered, and heard.

Darryl Lahner  – Director

After more than two decades as a senior retail banker, Darryl made a bold change—one driven by heart, not habit. What stayed with him throughout his corporate career wasn’t the numbers or the titles, but the people: supporting them, nurturing potential, and building teams rooted in trust and respect.

That people-first mindset now shapes everything he does at Visiting Angels North Kent. As Director, Darryl focuses on building a culture where carers feel empowered, appreciated, and genuinely looked after—because when carers thrive, the people they support do too.

Darryl is inspired by the African philosophy of ubuntu—“I am because we are.” It’s a belief in shared humanity and the strength of community, and it runs through everything from how he leads his team to how Visiting Angels walks alongside each client and family.

Angela Hudson – Care Manager

For Angela, care isn’t just a career—it’s a calling. She began over 30 years ago as a community carer, fitting her work around raising three young children. But what started as a practical choice quickly became a lifelong passion.

Since then, Angela has gone on to lead care teams as a Registered Manager for more than two decades.

Her heart lies in supporting people to live well at home—independently, safely, and in a way that feels right for them. She believes the best care is built on trust, empathy, and truly listening to each individual’s wishes.

Angela also knows that great care starts with great carers. That’s why she works hard to ensure every carer feels included, supported, and valued. When carers feel confident and respected, the difference it makes in someone’s day-to-day life is extraordinary.
