Who are Cheadle Village Primary School?

“Cheadle Village Primary School is situated at the heart of Cheadle village. Our beautiful school was built in 1909 and, although remains the same on the outside, has recently undergone a full internal renovation in the main building. As well as two playgrounds, we have a garden area which has a small astro-turf pitch and a trim trail which the children love to use. At Cheadle Village Primary School, we place great emphasis on the well-being of our whole school community, be it children, parents or staff. We strongly believe that in order for a child to be ready to learn and engage with the curriculum, their emotional and well-being needs need to be met.  Miss Simpson is our Pastoral Lead within school and will spend as much time as is needed to help the well-being of both our pupils and parents. As a result of all our hard work in this area, we have recently been awarded the Attachment & Trauma Sensitive School Bronze Award which we are extremely proud of! Alongside this, we also hold the Unicef Gold school award. This means that we put the rights of the child at the centre of everything that we do. We offer a broad and balanced curriculum that challenges our pupils to be the best they possibly can be. As part of the community, we embrace village life. Our pupils regularly visit Abney Care Home and our choir sings in the village at Christmas time. Some of our pupils even do litter picking in the village in their own time! Feedback from parents and visitors to our school is overwhelmingly positive and frequently the friendly and cheerful atmosphere is commented on. We look forward to welcoming you!”

Case Study

At Visiting Angels, we are dedicated to fostering connections that enrich the lives of those we support. This Christmas, we embarked on a heartwarming initiative to bring festive cheer to our clients while strengthening community bonds across different generations and backgrounds.

In October, our director, Ellie, reached out to Cheadle Village Primary School with a simple yet meaningful idea: could the children create handmade Christmas cards for our clients? The school eagerly embraced the opportunity, and over the weeks that followed, the children poured their creativity and kindness into designing beautiful snowman-themed cards. Each card included a heartfelt, handwritten message, adding a truly personal touch.

This December, we will deliver these wonderful cards to 11 of our clients, accompanied by a vibrant Poinsettia plant. Together, these gifts are sure to brighten their homes and remind them that they are cherished and valued, especially during the festive season.

The collaboration aligns perfectly with our core values of family and relationships, emphasising the importance of community and connection. By involving the children in this initiative, we’ve created a unique opportunity to bridge generational gaps, fostering a sense of shared joy and mutual respect.

To express our gratitude for their generosity and effort, we visited the school and presented the children with chocolates. Their smiles and excitement were a testament to the joy of giving and the power of community spirit.

This initiative is more than a festive gesture, it’s a celebration of what can be achieved when people come together. At Visiting Angels, we believe that small acts of kindness have the power to make a big difference, and we’re proud to have brought this idea to life with the help of our local school.

As we deliver the cards and plants to our clients, we look forward to seeing their smiles and hearing their reactions. These moments of connection remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to continue finding creative ways to spread joy in the community.
